Another fun morning in the Alfredo iron mine in Valle Trompia, Italy, checking out new bits and picking my way through the survey. In at the top level above the surface works for the first time. Some pretty bits, some collapses, a super steep incline down which I left well alone and a wet climbing shaft down to the bottom level with an old rope, which appears to be strong enough! So a great round trip, still so much in there to find!
The remains of an air gate on the Giardino tunnel - but no draught, pretty sure the entrance is blocked.

The pretty Giardino tunnel, water flowing outbye but got deep just before where the portal should have been.

The main route heads straight for the far workings a couple of km away, and intersects the internal wet incline after just over a km. Unfortunately at little over half this distance a fair bit of the roof is on the floor and the water is deep. I'm pretty sure it's still open - a big draught - but I wasn't up for a solo swim!

Plenty of workings above the main line - lots of potential routes through but all were left for a braver occasion.

This mine is so pretty. But all of these massive timbers are absolutely and completely rotten. Touch nothing!

The stopes have come down fairly definitively here!

The seriously steep incline down. Only one floor, but on my own, no rope so I wasn't even slightly tempted.
The climbing shaft down to the lower drainage level and out. Someone else's grotty rope but it turned out to be OK!
