Help with ID

Is it the quarry on Masson Hill? That was (I think) Knowles Mine once?
It looks like the back entrance to Masson where the quarry for spar broke into the Masson workings.

Right on Les. I used to access High Loft at the very back. I also believe that there is a Beck Shaft at the back.
These photos will have all been in the "Derbyshire" folder.
Sorry, should have come in on this earlier.

Ill get photos linked over to this entry , The entry number is definitely not similar , majority so far have been around 3200 ID , Thats 13400 .

should we add Knowles quarry as a AKA name to this entry ?

This 1 ??? Long stone edge seems to be mention in a lot of entries .

Thank you .

Do we have a entry for this -

** Pedant warning **

Masson Quarry, more properly Masson Opencast, was never known as "Mason Lees Quarry" or any other derivative/spelling until the BMC came along. They named it (with a missing S) using the nearest place on the map - Masson Lees Farm. The name Knowles Quarry is also incorrect. Knowles Mine was (mostly) destroyed by the opencast. The photo is certainly of Masson Quarry/Opencast with the cavernous entrance to Masson Mine visible. It is likely that some of the Knowles Mine workings were located near this entrance.

Thanks. I'll update the quarry entry appropriately. Nothing wrong with getting it correct!

I always knew it as "Knowles", now I stand corrected and will change the folder name on my own system. Nice to see you on here, daresay we will meet again sometime in the Via Gellia, one of my favourite places.

Masson opencast is the correct name as it was never a quarry, the overburden from the present opencast was used to backfill an earlier opencast.

The Longstone Edge shaft above is Silver Hillocks Mine, IIRC.

No, these aren't Stoney Middleton - the first set are the modern workings of Middleton Stone Mine , the second set are old man's workings on Quarry Vein that the stone mine workings broke into.

Entry 12991 . My mistake, I should have noticed the other was galena .

The old man workings on quarry vein , does anybody know the name of the mine this vein was worked from ?

- iirc worked by The London Lead Company in mid-late 1700s.

The 1999 Plan also shows 'Samuel Vein', though I haven't been able to find any reference to related workings.
