Lake District Itinery

There's certainly a lot of excavators there. A fascinating glimpse at a pre-hydraulic world!

Today was iron day. A look at the Kelton hematite mine between Lowes Water and Ennerdale. ...which was a series of 3 spoil heaps. The Knock Murton Mines are just obscured on the fell on the left.

And finally a look at Florence Mine. I thought we'd be taking photos through a fence, but the site seems to be being used as some sort of art centre, so it's quite easy to have a good nose round.
