Penrhyn Access

Hi everyone.

Myself and the Mrs are really keen on seeing Penrhyn.

I am continuing to look for access details online but if anyone has any information on if there is still any access and where, myself and the Mrs would be very grateful. Please PM me.

The truck tour is just a drive up the track they made for the main zip wire and back again stopping to admire the view and be told some history. Can't imagine anyone paying 25+ quid for that...but no doubt some do or else Dolphin Capital / Taylor wouldn't offer it.

Public footpaths skirt the North and East boundaries and allow access to the Quarry Hospital area (fenced off for stabilisation work last time I walked around there) and the compressor house beloved by 'urban explorers'.

Active quarry site - contact them and ask about open days and group (which is unlikely for two of you!) visits as they have done both.

Felin Fawr slate works is a buisness park so is easy enough to walk around. Some of the buildings are little altered on the outside but there's little to see really. Best part is the waterwheels but there is no official access to those.

The other bits you can't get permission to visit so access falls outside BP. Easy enough to find on 'urbex' websites/goontube.

Thanks for the more detailed reply. Myself and the Mrs are fairly new to this as I think you know from my induction a few weeks ago.

We have been to quite a few now and are absolutely in love with the history of such places. Maenofferen totally blew us away.

We like to be away from people and have peace so nothing like the zip world thing interests us at all. This being said, we did a couple of trips down with Go Below at the beginning to gain some knowledge etc.

I have mentioned in previous posts that we are keen to follow 'rules', but I do believe people who have a genuine love for these places and want to do it as safely and with as much respect as possible should be able to get some help from people who have more experience and have had the same pleasures.

Digging you will learn is what mine exploring is all about !
 
As @ilt says, if you could get a small group together (you're welcome to ask here for people to come along), of maybe half a dozen, perhaps you could get them to allow a group visit?
 
Depends which part of Penrhyn you mean. I did try to arrange an official trip to the pumps a few years ago but got nowhere. A visit to the working quarry might be possible though.
