Some photos from a little look around the 1950s drifts at Pentreclwydau, interesting little site located on a public footpath.
NCB stopped mining here in 1967, Operated privately from 1991-1998 under various owners and left abandoned. It was linked to Aberpergwm underground which is of course still working coal.

Drift no2 with the distinctive shaped fan house. No2 was the return where all the dirty air was sucked out of the mine.
