Shenley Chalk Mine - asking for info

I'd love to have a look around Shenley Chalk Mine some time (grid ref: TL 203 013, see section in page https://www.hertsgeolsoc.org.uk/rigs/ ) but I hear that the main access shaft (and the 2 other non ideal ones) are thoroughly secured with Herfordshire Bat group making occasional inspections.

Probably I'd need to ask them? (Or maybe someone from KURG?) but does anyone here know of any trips in future or a specific contact name.

Thanks

I still am waiting for a sinkhole to dive into the Norwich workings .

“ with permission obviously “😁

H2S warning there!
Being too lazy to track down the info from the time and using my unreliable memory... I think it got sealed at fire brigade request after 2 people were dragged out unconscious by them in breathing aparatus. The casualties suffered from hydrogen Sulphide and if they'd been left longer they wouldn't have made it. I could be mixing up different stories though and all that waffle was nonsense ;)

Definitely gas meters and pony bottles for Norwich, and quite a lot of digging
