Another unsuccessful explore.
This colliery opened in 1820 and worked up until 1960, through 3 different levels.

Nice one n looks like that collapse needs digging !
I recently had success with a brass wire drill attachment on a chisel that I then used electrolysis to remove the rust. Sealed in a bath of boiling paraffin waxThanks for the advice, been kicking myself ever since taking the pick down so much. What sort of outcome would a chemical base bring out?
Well the person who breaks a section out will get wet feet then !Looks like that fall could be holding back a fair bit of water
I was thinking more along the lines are there being a lot of pressure behind and not causing a tidal waveWell the person who breaks a section out will get wet feet then !
I personally don’t see a issue with getting wet
could try to bore hole through & insert a pipe ?I was thinking more along the lines are there being a lot of pressure behind and not causing a tidal wave
For easy chemical rust removal, try Sodium Citrate solution - dissolve 100g Citric Acid crystals in 1 litre of water, add 66g Sodium Bicarbonate, and when the fizzing stops, add a few drops of washing up liquid. Get as much loose rust as you can off the artefact with a wire brush, then put it in the solution for 1-2 hours, depending on the thickness of the rust this may need repeating in a fresh batch of solution . Rinse and dry thoroughly on removal, then use either wax or oil to prevent re-rusting - I cleaned back to bare metal a pair of horseshoes from my wife's old riding pony that had been sat in a damp place for 10 years, so it does work. Thanks for the advice, been kicking myself ever since taking the pick down so much.
