Garret Quarry-face
If you do decide to take a very interesting trip to the Bottom of garret then be aware of some of the very usstable rockfaces around the southern side. Some of the galleries are now naturally riving causing enormous slabs to break free. Remember this was part the reason the quarry closed!
It is safe, just don't climb around too much nor go when the weather is very windy, or the rain is extremely heavy.
One time in year 2001 I was walking past the Braich Bach sinc in VERY heavy rain, and about three tonnes of rock dislodged itself from the side of the pit. Thankfully the fall was not far as there was already an enormous tip from previous falls.
A pic of this sinc is here:

Tunnels.
Diorwig's tunnels provide easy access to the pit workings; make sure you get the right ones, some leed to scary drops.
Info:
. The grilled tunnel discribed in Miles's trip report leads to sink juliet. sink juliet is the somewhat obvious hole in the ground where the large rockfall has acoured. The sink juliet terminus for this tunnel is at the very bottom of the pit, and has much water flowing into it, hence the flooding.
. There seems to be no infomation on 'the strange chamber'.

Access
I was up here 2 days ago and apart from gates and fences I had no trouble accessing the whole place and wandered freely all day without encountering any dreaded security. There are many dangerous areas and high drops so be careful when you visit.
