Flooded Pit 3 (dive report)
Arriving from the old quarry road to the water (the only entrance) shows a pinnacle to the left, the drop-off here is to -15m. In front is a beach entry where the quarry road continues down to -18m on the right is a huge bolder field of car-sized bolders and at the far end, amongst the bolders, as conjectured is a possible tunnel entrance or blast hut entrance buried but visible. Kit config did not allow entry into the entrance (twin-12s) but side mount 7s might? There are no artifacts in the pit.
The bolder field looks quite stable but be careful if thinking about entering the tunnel at about -10m to -15m deep.

Lifts!!
Had a good look at these and personally they are bloody unsafe. As you can see there is no motor or crown wheel in the gearbox. The lifts are still roped and are at the top floor, what is holding them there?..................as far as i can tell not alot!. On each side of the lift are 2 sets of steel jaws, in an emergency (ie roped snapping) these would pull in and support the lift. They are both disengaged and the safety rope that operates them is not even connected on one lift. Someone has been inside one lift and painted their name in orange paint, very bad thing to do as all that is probably holding the lift up is the rust within the various pulleys at the shaft top. Best to stay away from these as a plummeting lift is the most scareist things i have ever seen (keep an eye on Myth Busters on Discovery channel, they drop one from 5 floors and it reaches 80mph in the blnk of an eye)
