Nice to see some pics from one of the first mines I ever visited when living in Devon many years ago.A very interesting tiny sett to go and see with it's original equipment, its on the very edge of the road from Bovey Tracy to Mortenhampstead,I believe they meet every first sunday in the month and have an open day.The times I have been there is only above ground stuff to see, there is an adit portal on the very edge of the road that the incline goes down to,but this was blocked just inside by a fall of ground, the granite being heavilly kalionised in the sett makes it very friable, what I would call "rotten" granite. For a good underground experience I recomend a visit to Great Rock at Hennock, not too far from Kelly mine.It can be hard to find, there is info on the net on how to get there and where it is.The processing buildings at Great Rock have been converted into a house and the adit portals are mostly just off a path on land owned by the Forest Commision,so some discrection is required!!But there is a whole days worth of exploring to be had at GR,wear old clothes as youll never get the shiny ore out of your gear, the mined material was used in anti corrosion paint and is just like metallic paint.
