Abuse
Many people have been very upset at the destruction of the Robey Incline which is understandable and it's good people make their opinions known so that in future things might happen differently.
However I've heard rumours of people hearing about what's happened and stoming into Llechwedd and verbally abusing the staff, including a poor receptionist who was so upset she had to go home.
This approch is very unfair on the staff there that havn't done anything wrong and I'm firmly against using intimidation in this way. If you wish to make your feelings known by all means send a letter to either their management, CADW, the media or even the local MP but action should be limited to this and other peaceful means.

Evil Destruction
Ok! lets put our money where our mouth is.
Who (if local) would be prepared to blockade Llechwedd's entrance with cars Friday morning and maybe hand out leaflets or something?
It would certainly get some publicity.

Robey Incline Pictures Released
I have a few photos of the spectacular Robey (Inclin Bon) incline head, which were stored in the classified database. Now Llechwedd have just mindlessly destroyed it, I have made them public so we can all see what's been lost.

Floor 5 Mills Destruction
Not only has the beautiful Robey Steam Incline (floor 5) just been destroyed and it's unique surviving gear mechanisms scrapped, but the entire mill next to it, complete with all it's very rare dressing/ sawing gear is scheduled to be destoryed before this week is out. This is criminal!

Destruction at Llechwedd
I have, today, contacted Gwynedd CC, planning dept, Dolgallau, and Buildings Preservation Officer, Caernarfon, in an attempt to put a blanket temporary preservation order on the whole site. I will keep this site informed.
In the mean time, if anyone has any additional information:-
a) About further buildings being thereatened at Llechwedd
b) Information of a historical nature that might help get any buildings at Llechwedd/ Mae Offeren, other than those that are already listed, preserved.
Please send this to me so I can pass on any helpful info.
Alternatively ring GCC, Dolgellau (ask for planning) and make a protest yourself!

The 'Deep mine'
The deep mine tour has altered slightly. Instead of being picked up at floor C by the yellow truck, tourists are diverted back to floor B via some new steps and collected from the origional drop off point. Not sure if this is permanent. Some of the chambers on this tour have been omitted and replaced by a couple of minutes of staring at a wall. This has reduced the tour by about ten minutes. Disappointing!
