Access to this mine

It has been brought to my attention that there is a very serious problem at the moment in the Gwydyr Forest with some cavers and mine-explorers thinking they have every right to cross private land, damage fences and explore the mines in a very disrespectful manner. Big groups of bright noisy cavers wandering through people gardens just isn’t acceptable, nor is damage to fences and so forth. This behavior only serves to further enrage the people who live in the forest and makes things more difficult for those who are quietly and considerately just looking to appreciate our industrial past. Please be aware that none of the mines in the forest have any kind of access agreement in place. Whatever you do in the Gwydyr forest, please use common sense; be quiet, discrete and respectful of private property. Please don’t arrive by the vanload and parade around in colourful caving gear for all to see. I’m sorry if this message seems a little stern, but there are some quite upset people here.

Parc

If doing trip to Cwffty take right fork in No 3, the left goes into very deep ochre and you will get stuck. Look out for imminent hopper collapses on route to Cwffty Rise, I cleared two about 2003 but have not made recent visit due to work elsewhere. If exploring Cwffty deep adit beware of imminent collapses. On descent to no 3 via east ladder winze check out part rotten lower section, about 3 up from the bottom. RF
