Sikehead Mine

Sikehead Mine which worked lead originally, then fluorite in more recent years. There are two shafts - Routh's and Ellen's - very close together and Robinson's level comes off them at shallow depth, as shown in image 10153. Fascinating surface details of Cornish engine house base, capstan base, hopper feed to dressing floor, etc., evidence of John Taylor & Co. influence about 1860. Line of railway incline nearby.
