Connection into Moss Head

Effectively, all the mines on the northeast side of the old man can be classed as just one working. Please be careful when entering this level, as there are at least three places on the level were it is possible to fall a vertical distance of over 100 ft (one of the drops nearing over 160ft.) One of the workings' tunnels simply leads to a collosal drop, because of later operations at Moss Head. The two other connections are by no means safe. These openings from the spion kop close-head, into the spion kop/ moss head close-head are dodgey, as there are large amounts of slippery waste rock in the close-heads.

Lower entrances.

the lower entrances of Spion Kop are blocked by rockfalls - and the main levels can only be accessed by the Moss Head workings.
