Just to confirm that the portals are in close proximity to each other and a small amount of climbing is required to pass from one working to another. Much of the levels are wet and have some rather fast flowing water to contend with at one point (wet summer this year) I would personally not touch any of the timbers, as some seem to hold massive piles of deads stacked above the returning levels and are now weak and rotten. You will get wet here, but is mostly enjoyable until the rushing water section....

A second entrance to Tynebottom can be found, a little further along the path from the road, on the left and part-hidden by bushes. The two adits are linked underground by a set of interesting flats at a slightly higher horizon.

A drainage level on the South bank of the River South Tyne. It is sited just a few feet above the river and has a strong outflow of water. Access is via a footpath (Pennine Way) along the river bank. The level is a nice example of drystone arching, and is currently open, there are the remains of a galvanised swing gate on the walls just inside.
