Wheal What?

The names came from AK Hamilton Jenkins original notes from the 6" maps which are available in CRO. I reckon HJ was probably right as he seems bloody dilligent in his info getting. I think Dines was a desk man.

Wheal what?

Sorry, but as I understand it this is Wheal Vincent. Wheal Fox according to Dinas is on the headland. There is what may be an adit at the rear of a private garden.

Adit

This adit is open and I had a walk in. It goes about 50ft to a collapsed stope which if I had been with my mine chums would have been climb-upable or climb-downable to continue along the adit. It was not flooded but there is a geological feature to the left of the adit which looks like it could be a fault or mineralisation and the rock has pretty much disintegrated it would suggest that if it bears left, it will have totally collapsed. Judging by the footprints, people have been poking around in here.
