Cwmorthin Slate Quarry: Victorian Lantern (Public)

Once used throughout the mines of Ffestiniog by thousands of men, now extremely rare indeed. These take a normal tallow candle, and are better than just carrying the bare candle as in this lantern it won't blow out and you can hang it off a belt etc.

When the mines closed, those that were servicable all got taken home. The only ones you'd see in the mines today are ones that got dropped and broken, then discarded. Of these, virtually all have been taken by thiefing trinket-taking types.

This one is in remarkable condition. The most complete I've ever seen.
