This is a bit of a historical report, from what was my first trip to Parc lead mine in 2018. It was before I learned how to light paint properly so the photos are not the best.
This was also the day I had the crazy idea to sleep in my hatchback in a layby and it was the worst night of my life. These days I have an estate to sleep in.
Mine was operated from the 1860s until the 1960s. In its last 10 years it producted more lead than all the other mines in the Gwydir forest combined in the 100 years before.
The last use for this mine was for the Bidston tidal experiment which I don't even pretend to understand, so here is some Information for you to read.
Adit on level 2.
Follow the entrance tramway
The junction between the 2 lodes on level 2. There is a 140ft drop under the flase floor down to level 3.
Looking further back from the junction, you can clearly see the thickness of the ore and how steep it dips downwards.
Part of the level where they tested drills, there is hundred of holes in the wall.
The ore chutes are a running theme down here in various conditions, ranging from perfect to completely collapsed. The bricked off area was used for the bidston tital experiement which was stopped because the deformation of wales was affecting their instruments.
In the back ground is an old shaft to the surface with a ladderway up it, probably where the auxillary fan was when it was a working mine.
Ladderway which goes down 100ft to a sub level just above level 3.
The main level, note the false floor over the chute down to level 3.
The rest of the pictures are just various sights along level 2.
